 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My experience staying at Wildernest Cabin #5 for 2 nights in early September was wonderful!  The cabin was the perfect size, and it had everything I needed.  I loved the fireplace, the huge window looking out into the woods, the luxury bathroom, comfy bed, and long bench in front of the window.  The location was great - I went to Brighton Beach and explored Lester Park. I would have loved to stay longer (actually - I would love to live here  permanently LOL!).  It's very hard to find a place to stay in Duluth in the summer and early fall, especially somewhere that's so peaceful.  I've already recommended Wildernest Cabins to a few of my friends and family, and I definitely plan to come back.  In any season this would be a great place to stay.  I loved how well the cabin was built, and the spacing of the cabins as well as the sauna, firepit, and picnic table were well thought out.  Everything was perfect and I loved it all!

My husband and I stayed for two nights in early September for our anniversary and found Wildernest Cabins a perfect, serene getaway. Everything was spotless and calming. Beautiful cabins and perfect location. We loved being a close drive away from Duluth and a scenic drive to two harbors and further up the north shore. You can see how much thought and care was put into these cabins in all of the little details. Bonus- unlike normal Airbnb there was no need to completely clean the cabin before checking out 🙌🏼 what an amazing place to relax and unwind. We will definitely be back!

The cabin is beautiful, incredibly well designed, and decorated so thoughtfully. You can tell that no expense was spared and that so much care went into every detail, both inside and out. The setting might have been our favorite part. It feels completely private and tucked into nature. There's  a  huge window that looks out into the woods.  Verified Words truly cannot describe how wonderful this spot is. My partner and I couldn’t get over how beautiful the interior and exterior of the space was. The sauna was a huge hit as well. The cabin is VERY well kept, and very cold (which I loved!) The amenities are so convenient! The stovetop took a bit to figure out, but it was super helpful to have the guest book! The dishwasher is super helpful as well! The fireplace ran just fine and was super comforting! The bed was fantastic and was VERY comfortable! The sauna was so relaxing and very easy to use! The location was very convenient and was out of the way, yet close enough to most things! Everything you would need is within 30 minutes both directions, and having some recommendations for stuff nearby in the book? SUPER helpful! One thing I would've loved to make it more convenient is a microwave hidden somewhere, but we brought up our air fryer and it worked just as fine! Along with an accessable, long handled broom, but I'm a bit of a bit picker for cleaning 😂 We're hoping to make this our new vacation spot each year! I especially appreciated the warm dimmable lighting. The landscaping and views were beautiful, and even with nearby cabins I felt completely private.  Verified We really enjoyed this property. It was perfectly located between Duluth and Two Harbors. Only 20min drive to the breweries and hikes. Secluded and quiet place. The amenities (fire pit/sauna) were as described and worked well. The hosts included a very helpful handbook as well! The EV charger was a really nice perk for us as well. This gorgeous cabin was THE PERFECT place to stay for Grandma’s Marathon Weekend! It is located right on the course. Absolutely stunning views and the sauna was such a treat. We even saw beautiful deer this morning as we were leaving. The views of Lake Superior across the road were breathtaking, especially at sunset. If we could rate this 10 stars, we would. The room was exceptionally clean and new.  Everything was so well done in the design. It was simplistic yet very luxurious. The secluded fire pit, brand new sauna, and expansive outdoor common space creates the perfect setting and a strong desire to come back often to refresh and relax. The cabins are adorable and the surrounding area is so quiet yet so close to all the things we love about Duluth. From enjoying the sauna to a fire in the fire pit of an evening wilderness cabins have been one of my favorite places I’ve stayed in general. There is a book of surrounding gems we used, everything thing was incredibly clean and the check-in/check-out experience was top tier. Secluded enough that we saw a baby deer out our window and could hear the waves from the lake crashing at night.  Verified The cabin was clearly made with an attention to detail. The inside was very peaceful and the giant window looking into the forest made it feel like an escape while you’re inside. The sauna and indoor fireplace were very nice additions. There isn’t a lot of privacy between cabins or getting in and out of your sauna which felt disappointing for the price.

The view is beautiful. Location was spot on for spending time both in Duluth and Two Harbor. I had no idea I loved a sauna. I do now.  The outdoor fire pit was easy to use. My husband and I could not have loved this cabin stay more. The second we walked in, we were in awe of the beauty and cleanliness of the cabin. It was so serene and relaxing. The firepit outside and sauna were wonderful in the cold weather. Every detail was so thought out and added to the peacefulness of our stay. Amazing Place! Highly recommend. We are already planning to come back. The room is supplied with all the little things you need. They thought of everything. (Ecxept maybe some way to make ice) the bed is comfortable and great to wake up with the huge picture window. Multiple heat options, the gas fire place in more than enough to warm the whole place. The sauna is perfect for 2-4 people. Having a prive option drew us here over other locations we looked at. We've been getting 2-3 sessions in per day. Haven't gotten to use the private outdoor gas fire pit or group wood fire pits due to winter but we hope to come back to take advantage of them. Definitely bring some fruit and snack, and your favorite healthy drinks.

Great place for a getaway for a couple! Quiet, private, and close enough to food and activities but far enough to feel like you’re in the woods and surrounded by nature. Clean and modern. Sauna and games were great! Exactly as pictured and had good communication when had questions.

 Verified This place was carefully thought out and built with luxury amenities like top end appliances, furniture, fireplace, sauna and even smaller details like rugs, storage bins and vintage looking Bluetooth radio. Minor items that would make a 6 star review would be to add a small microwave or small oven and another place to hang clothes.  Verified For anyone interested in exploring the majesty of this area, we highly recommend this magical place. The proximity to both nature and entertainment is perfect! We were able to visit several state parks as well as enjoy amazing dining less than 5 minutes from the property. The property itself feels very private (we watched deer from our large pane window with our coffee each morning), is impeccably maintained and new. We visited after the first snowfall, making the sauna even more inviting! Ben was very responsive and accommodating, even allowing us early access at no additional charge. Each cabin has its own private gas fireplace inside and an outdoor gas fire pit, both perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The large picture windows look out over the beautiful wooded property, making the space feel peaceful and connected to nature. The private sauna was such a treat, too. If you want a real wood fire, there’s a shared fire pit in the pavilion, we used it the first night and had it all to ourselves. It was great to sit by the fire and stargaze under the clear North Shore sky. The location couldn’t be better, right next to Lake Superior and the scenic route, with easy access to great restaurants and all the popular North Shore attractions. Can I book just one night?

All cabin reservations require a two-night minimum stay. This gives you time to truly unwind and experience the North Shore — whether that’s a morning sauna, a sunset hike, or simply slowing down to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes! Wildernest Cabins offers customizable gift certificates for any dollar amount. They make perfect gifts for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and special events nearby.

Are the cabins pet-friendly?

To protect the cabins, landscaping, and local wildlife, no pets are permitted on the property.

Are the cabins kid-friendly?

Wildernest Cabins is designed as an adult retreat with a maximum occupancy of two guests per cabin, regardless of age. While children are welcome, our property does feature several safety concerns for children including exposed sauna heaters, hot fireplaces, an open fire pit, and location on Scenic Highway 61. We do not provide specialized children’s items such as cribs or highchairs.

We’re perfectly positioned at the gateway to the natural wonders of the North Shore of Lake Superior, offering you an ideal blend of wilderness and accessibility. How many cabins are available?

We offer six intimate cabins, each carefully designed to accommodate two guests. While each cabin provides a secluded experience, our central pavilion area includes communal spaces perfect for gathering, featuring picnic tables, grill stations, and a community firepit.

Is there WiFi and cell service?

Yes! All cabins have reliable high-speed WiFi, perfect for working, streaming, or sharing your trip. Cell service depends on your carrier—most work fine, though T-Mobile can be spotty. Whether you want to stay connected or unplug, the choice is yours.

Is there an EV charger on-site? Will it work with my car?

Yes! We have two Wallbox Pulsar Plus chargers available near the pavilion (not at the cabins), free for all guests. They use the standard J1772 connector.

What should I bring?

Breakfast items, your favorite snacks, groceries, ice, sunscreen, bug spray, and layers (North Shore weather changes quickly).

What’s provided in the cabin?

• Duluth Coffee Co. pre-ground coffee packets, coffee filters, & coffee maker

• Tazo green tea, Tazo mint tea, & electric kettle
• Kitchenette with dishes, wine glasses, dishwasher, induction stovetop, cookware, toaster, refrigerator / freezer, sugar packets, salt and pepper.
• Linens, lots of towels, robes, hairdryer, Native shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
• Shared gas grill & cooking utensils
• Board games, cards, and lawn games

How far in advance can I book?

Reservations open 12 months in advance. Book a single cabin, or reserve all six for a private event or group stay.

What is your cancelation policy?

All refunds are subject to a 3.5% Stripe processing fee
• Just booked? Cancel within 48 hours for a full refund.
• Plans changed? Cancel 14+ days before check-in for a full refund.
• Within 14 days of check-in? We’ll convert your stay into a gift card.

Do the cabins have water filters?

No, the tap water is Lake Superior water treated at the city filtration system two miles down the shore. It is completely odorless, tasteless, and clear.

Are there TVs in the cabins?

We intentionally keep our cabins TV-free to encourage deeper connections—with nature, with each other, and with yourself. If you crave some screen time, feel free to bring a laptop or tablet to stream your favorite shows during downtime.

Is there heating and air conditioning?

Each cabin is equipped with a mini-split system for heating and cooling, supplemented by radiant heat for cold Minnesota winters and a two-sided gas fireplace.

What kitchen facilities are provided?

Each cabin features a kitchenette with:

● Refrigerator & freezer
● 2 burner induction cook top
● Dishwasher
● Basic cookware and dishes

The shared pavilion features:

Is there designated parking?

Yes. Each cabin comes with dedicated parking space for up to two vehicles. We also offer two electrical vehicle charging stations on a first-come, first-served basis, supporting eco-friendly travel options.

Can I set up a tent or camper by my cabin?

To maintain the natural habitat and ensure a quality experience for all guests, camping is not permitted on our property.

When are the quiet hours?

10pm – 8am · Please respect fellow guests and our neighbors by keeping voices and music low.

Are the cabins wheelchair accessible?

We have one ADA accessible cabin. Please reach out via email to make specific inquiries about spaces and ADA-accessible lodging.

Is smoking allowed onsite?

Smoking is prohibited on the entire Wildernest Cabins property.

Is there direct access to Lake Superior from the property?

While Wildernest Cabins doesn’t have direct lake frontage, the nearby McQuade Small Craft Harbor provides excellent lake access just a short walk from our property. This public facility includes a boat launch, kayak ramp, restrooms, shelter, fishing platforms, and a paved walkway with a tunnel to the east breakwall. We welcome guests to bring smaller watercrafts like kayaks and canoes, which can be stored behind the pavilion or at your cabin.

Can I rent the entire Wildernest Cabins property for a private group?

Absolutely! We offer the unique opportunity to book our entire property for a truly exclusive experience. When you rent the full property, you’ll have exclusive access to:
● All six cabins
● Communal gathering spaces at central pavilion
● Private, woodland setting

What is the maximum group size for a full property rental?

Our property is designed to accommodate up to 12 guests total (2 guests per cabin). We prioritize an intimate, connected experience that allows groups to enjoy nature and each other’s company.
To ensure a peaceful and respectful environment for all:
● No large parties or events are permitted
● Additional visitors or day guests require prior approval
● Quiet hours are observed from 10 PM to 8 AM
